About the Centre
Our History and Present Status
Community Care has been with us in terms of local authority services since 1990 with the NHS and Community Care Act.
But caring in the community has been with us always in terms of people who require support, care and assistance being cared for by relatives and friends in their own homes.
Our Centre was opened in 1989 to meet one specific need of all disabled, ill and frail people and their carers: the need for information. At that time we had 2 part time members of staff, a small office and lots of support and goodwill from BT, Dundee Council and Tayside Health Board.
Since then we have changed and grown and developed into a key service provider for the people of Dundee.
The Centre is a charitable Company which although affiliated to a national network of Princess Royal Trust Centres in Scotland is an independent local voluntary organisation.
We now employ 24 staff members across the range of services we provide and are managed by a Board of Volunteer Directors with a wealth of personal and professional experience between them.
