A Guide to Short Breaks for Disabled Adults and Children in Dundee
This guide is for disabled people, carers and anyone interested in services which provide short breaks. It covers services for people with special needs, care needs, health care needs, or emotional and behavioural needs.
We use the term 'short breaks' to describe services which provide supported accommodation for disabled people who wish to take a holiday or to give carers a break from their caring role (respite).
Short breaks may be anything from a few hours to a week or two at a time. Whatever the period, it is a time when both you and your carer can pursue a change of activities, perhaps make new friends, and experience a change of surroundings. For carers, there is also the important benefit that that you may well get a boost to your ability to care, physically and emotionally.
You can request a copy of the guide by contacting the Centre on (01382) 200 422 or you can download a copy here (pdf).
