Direct Payments Service
A Direct Payment is money given to a disabled person by the local authority so that they can arrange and purchase the care services they need in the way they want. Many people use the money to employ their own Personal Assistants. This is also known as self-directed support. To find out more about this option, visit www.selfdirectedsupportscotland.org.uk/
Dundee Carers Centre has the contract from the Social Work Department of Dundee City Council and Angus Council to provide advice, information and support to those people in Dundee and Angus who wish to use direct payments to meet their community care needs. The Direct Payments team also operates a payroll service for people who employ a personal assistant.
