'Onwards and Upwards' 2010 AGM event

Our annual 'Onwards and Upwards' AGM event will take place on 1 October at the Central Baptist Church. This year for the first time we are having two events - one in the afternoon and one in the evening. We hope you can make it along to one or other.

The first session will run from 12 noon, starting with lunch, a choice of workshops and then AGM business from 4pm. The evening session will kick off with a buffet at 5.30pm, then workshops, social activities and consultation opportunities.

This year's workshops include:

Dundee Carers Strategy - what's in it for you? we need your view!

New building consultation - your opportunity to tell us what facilities you think we should have

Introduction to social networking - do you facebook or do you wonder what it's all about? We'll show you!

Action for Carers - all about participation - how you can get involved and make your voice heard

Stress management - an old favourite, fun ways to learn how to relax when things get stressful

Drumming - come along and make some noise!

Photography - learn how to take better photies

To book your place for either the afternoon or evening session, please contact the Centre on: 01382 200422 before 17 September. You can download a booking form here.

Let us know if you have any dietary requirements. This event is open to carers, disabled people, young carers and professionals. You do not need to be a member to attend, but will have to join if you want to vote on AGM business - forms will be available on the day, cost: £1.

Carers Cafés

@ the Central Baptist Church hall

Friday 15 October @ 2-4pm

Monday 18 October @ 6-8pm

The Carers Cafés are an opportunity for carers and workers to sit down together and have a café-style conversation about how carers can have more of a voice in Dundee.   Both of the Cafés will pose a few simple questions about the way forward for improving carer participation in Dundee. Each cafe will follow the same format so you only need to come to one, and the Cafés are open to carers of all ages and all types of caring roles and experiences, and professionals working with carers. We’d love to see you there!

Please let us know you are coming by phoning Tim at the Carers Centre on 01382 200422 or e-mail: tim.mineard@dundeecarerscentre.org.uk

You can download a poster to promote the events to other carers or professionals.

The Carers Cafés are being run in partnership with Dundee City Council and NHS Tayside as part of the Carers Information Strategy.
