Minority Ethnic Carers and Disabled People Project

Sofia Rizwan is the Black and Minority Ethnic Development Worker for this project at the PRT Dundee Carers Centre.  Sofia will be raising awareness of our services and working to improve access to information within minority ethnic communities. Language and communication barriers often result in a lack of knowledge of entitlements and services within minority ethnic communities.   Hopefully, by translating information materials into community languages, by providing drop in surgeries in predominantly minority ethnic areas and working with other organizations, minority ethnic carers and disabled people will be identified and better supported.   In addition, Sofia will develop a support group for ethnic carers, provide opportunities for training, encourage participation in consultation and much more!

If you would like more information about services and know of anybody who would benefit from advice and information please contact Sofia at the centre by telephone (01382 200422) or e-mail
